Saints Drama to Perform “Antigone”

Saint Raphael Academy will perform Antigone, a one-act play that will also be their entry to the Rhode Island State Drama Festival. The play will have a special one-night performance on Thursday, March 15, at 7:30 pm in the Coutu Theater. Entrance is free, and donations to the drama program are gratefully accepted.

“Antigone” is a drama about the Greek tragedy of Antigone, daughter of Oedipus, who defies her family in order to give her brother a proper burial. Her uncle, King Creon of Thebes, had forbidden it, and discontent among family members ensues.

The part of Antigone will be played by Jenny Sullivan, and King Creon will be played by Jeremy Knox. Other cast members are Maddi Cocca (Ismene), Jack Rigley (Haimon), Elizabeth Moody (Tieresias), Cooper Arnold (Senator), Mateus Cezario (Sentry), Faith Lambert (Eurydice), Hadiya Pfeiffer (Child), and Sara Langlois (Choragos). Chorus members are Glenn Filipe, Emily Gaboriault, Bailey Gonsalves, Arianna Hamill, Rachael Sassi, and Theresa Wagner.

The Rhode Island State Drama Festival will be at Cranston High School West March 16-17. Saints Drama Club is scheduled to perform at 10 am on March 17. Tickets may be purchased online from the Rhode Island Theatre Education Association.
