Registered Student Information

Congratulations on becoming a Saint! New incoming students often have many questions about the upcoming year. This page is designed to provide you with the information you will need in order to assist you with a successful transition into the Academy.

If you still have a question after reviewing this page, do not hesitate to contact the Admissions Office at 401-723-8100 or by email at admissions@saintrays.org.

We look forward to seeing you in the fall!

There are 6 steps to prepare for the start of the academic year.

1. Complete and return paperwork

By June 15, provide a copy of your State Physical Exam Form (obtained from your doctor’s office; includes immunization history) and the SRA enrollment forms to the Admissions Office. In addition, if you intend to try out for any sport during the year, complete and return the RIIL Assumption of Risk Form and Concussion Act Booklet. We highly recommend all students return these forms in case you change your mind. If you return the forms prior to the June 15 deadline, you do not need to have it notarized.

2. Sign up for sports (if you intend to try out)

If you are interested in trying out for a sport, please complete the SRA sports interest form. Your contact information will be forwarded to the Athletic Director to ensure you are notified of any practices, team meetings, or tryouts that will occur before the start of the school year. The RIIL (Rhode Island Interscholastic League) will determine when teams can begin practice.

Note: Clubs and co-curricular activities do not require early sign-up. Listen to morning announcements in the fall for meeting times.

3. Register for transportation through your town

Transportation to and from Saint Raphael Academy depends upon where the student resides. Families are encouraged to investigate the options listed below on their own or contact their city or town for additional information.

  • The Rhode Island Department of Education provides statewide busing from some cities and towns to Saint Raphael Academy. Current and new families who qualify need to register for bus service every year for the upcoming academic year through the RI Department of EducationBus registration for the 2021-2022 school year is now open. Please have your requests in by July 31 to ensure service on the first day of school. Contact the statewide system manager’s office at 401-304-9136; Email: transportationinfo@ride.ri.gov; Fax: 401-222-5025.

These towns have special transportation requirements:

  • East Providence – East Providence School District transportation request forms must be submitted by July 16, 2021.
  • Lincoln Lincoln requires that residents submit a Lincoln Transportation Request Form directly to the town to register for transportation. Contact the Lincoln School Department for information.

Private Bus Service Provided by Saint Raphael Academy from Kent County

Saint Raphael Academy has three stops conveniently located for families from the Kent County area, which are determined once students have registered for bus transportation. The cost for transportation both to and from school for the full academic year will be $750. Please contact the Finance Office at 401-723-8100, extension 111, for details.

    4. Review the dress code and purchase uniforms

Saint Raphael Academy’s Uniform Dress Code can be found here. Please read it carefully. With the exception of the necktie, belt and footwear, all uniform components are to be obtained from Donnelly’s School Apparel (800-498-0045) or at DonnellysClothing.com. Orders placed by June 15 will receive a 20% discount, free alterations and free shipping. In order to ensure you receive your uniforms before the start of school, orders should be placed prior to July 31.

Saint Raphael Academy does not have a specific uniform for physical education. The dress code for PE is appropriate athletic clothing. There is no specific outerwear requirement, although outerwear must be removed when in the classroom.

    5. Complete your summer reading (and assignment, if applicable)

Summer Reading assignments can be found here. Students should complete all assigned summer reading for their classes by the start of the academic year.

    6. Purchase your textbooks

Students are responsible for obtaining all the required books for their assigned courses each academic year. The online bookstore will open in August 2021. Parents of new students will receive an email notification when the bookstore goes live; returning students will receive the notification at their school email address. The email will include credentials and instructions for logging into your account. Upon logging in, each student will see a personalized list of books to purchase, which corresponds to the courses they are enrolled in for the 2021-2022 school year. Please follow the prompts to purchase these books (either virtual or hard copy). An order confirmation will be sent to the student's SRA email address.

If you have questions or concerns about textbooks, please contact vcarroll@saintrays.org.

*Please note that students are also assigned summer reading books, which are not listed on the Textbook List and must be obtained and completed prior to the start of school.

    Frequently Asked Questions

When is the first day of school?

Freshmen and Transfer Student Orientation Day will take place in person on Wednesday, August 25, 2021. Returning upperclassmen will have a short in-person orientation on August 26. The first day of class for all students will be on Friday, August 27, 2021. More information will be sent to you in August concerning the opening of school.

    What are the school hours?

Saint Raphael Academy school hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 2:09 p.m. The school opens at 7:00 a.m. Parents should not drop off their child before this time since there is no supervision. Students who arrive early should report to a designated area before school (to be determined and announced in August). This designated area will also remain open after school ends until 5:30 p.m. each day. Here, students can study while they wait for a ride home or wait for a sports practice to begin. After-school academic support is also available for students who are struggling in their classes. Contact Mrs. Judy Baxter, Vice Principal of Academics (jbaxter@saintrays.org), for more information.

When do I get my schedule?

A personalized course list will be sent once finalized by the first week of August. This course list should be used to purchase the books for each class. The schedule will be provided on Orientation Day, when you will do a walk-through to help you learn how to navigate the campus prior to the first day of class.

What school supplies do I need?

On the first day of classes, teachers will notify students what materials will be required for classes.

How do I know what books I’ll need? Where do I get my books?

The online bookstore will open in August 2021. Parents of new students will receive an email notification with instructions when the bookstore goes live. Upon logging in, each student will see a personalized list of books to purchase, which corresponds to the courses they are enrolled in for the 2021-2022 school year. Please follow the prompts to purchase these books (either virtual or hard copy).

If you have questions or concerns about textbooks, please contact vcarroll@saintrays.org.

*Assigned summer reading books are not on the Textbook List and must be obtained and completed prior to the start of school.

When do I get my school-issued computer?

Saint Raphael Academy is also a 1-to-1 community. On Orientation Day, each student will be issued a laptop for their academic work during the school year. Students will be able to use them at home, in class, or during their study periods throughout the campus. All students and parents must each sign the Technology Acceptable Use Policy Form before the student is issued a device. Forms will be sent over the summer, and they must be signed and brought to orientation in August.

If you have questions about technology at Saint Raphael Academy, please contact Mr. Brian Taveira, Director of the Information Technology Office (401-723-8100 x125 or btaveira@saintrays.org).

How can I help ensure that my child is completing their work and keeping their grades up?

Saint Raphael Academy uses Rediker’s ParentPlus and StudentPlus Web Portals to allow parents an easy way to keep up-to-date with our academic community. Once you have activated your account, you can check your child’s latest grades and see information about classwork, attendance and other academic information. Parents/guardians will be emailed information in the fall about how to access their accounts.

Saint Raphael Academy also provides an Office 365 account to all enrolled students. Office 365 not only gives students a Saint Raphael Academy email address, but it gives them access to Microsoft Office and Microsoft’s OneDrive when and where they need it — allowing for access on your personal PC, Mac, tablet or smartphone at home and on the go.

How do I sign up for a fall sport?

At Saint Raphael Academy, our students are extremely well-rounded and are encouraged to participate in co-curricular and/or athletic activities. Becoming involved in the community is essential to the Academy experience.

Please note: Any student who wishes to participate in any athletic activity must complete and return the required forms to the Admissions Office. Forms are available on the Athletics Forms page.

I purchased my uniforms from Donnelly’s, but I don’t see a gym uniform. Is there one?

There is no specific uniform for gym. We ask that you wear appropriate athletic clothing and sneakers.

Can I do my required volunteer hours over the summer?

As part of the Lasallian commitment to faith, service and community, Christian service hours are required for graduation from Saint Raphael Academy. Service can be performed for the next school year as soon as the current school year ends. More information can be found here. Due to COVID restrictions, requirements are being re-evaluated; please check back for updates.

I’d like to be sure my child and I understand the school rules. Where do I find them?

The Student Handbook contains information about school policies, procedures, requirements, and more. Please note, parents/guardians and students are expected to thoroughly read the Student Handbook 2021-2022, which will be uploaded here over the summer. Registered families completed the electronic Tuition Agreement Form, and by doing so, agreed to abide by the Student Handbook and accept the school’s right to amend that handbook.

We’re proud to be Saints! Where can we buy Saints t-shirts, hats, etc.?

Celebrate being a Saint with official Saints gear from our school store! The Purple and Gold Zone is located in Alumni Hall. You can shop online! Questions can be directed to schoolstore@saintrays.org.

My contact info (email, address, phone number) has changed. Who should I notify?

If there is a change in your contact information (address, telephone number, email address, etc.), please inform Saint Raphael Academy’s Registrar (401-723-8100, ext. 122, or eball2711@saintrays.onmicrosoft.com).

Are there ways for parents to be involved?

A great way to get involved at Saint Raphael Academy is by becoming part of the SRA Parents Association. The SRA Parents Association’s mission is to partner with the Saint Raphael Academy administration and faculty to oversee, manage, and develop a community through events and initiatives that support and benefit our students. Throughout the year, they organize, host, and execute a variety of events aimed at enriching our school community, including the annual Walk-a-thon, the faculty Christmas luncheon, and the senior breakfast.

Beginning in September, they conduct monthly meetings with parents, administration, and faculty and they always welcome new members and new ideas. All parents and guardians of our students are encouraged to become involved. Check the school calendar for meeting dates.
